The Nature of Man

One of the first things told to me when I begun studying human nature was that man was basically good. That there was eons of crap mounted on that goodness that had tuned man into something not so hot anymore.

Ever since I can remember I had an interest in learning. But the purpose of learning for me had always been for the betterment of the condition of my fellow man.

Each time i unlocked a key to better life and livingness for myself, I felt a deep desire to share this with others that they may enjoy the benefits of these keys.

Several years ago, after many failed attempts to help I others find enlightenment, I realized that they had to find it on their own.

But my biggest disappointment occurred just a few months ago, when I realized that man kind doesn't do anything for each other unless there is a prospect for reward.

Conversely, given the opportunity humans would commit the most horrible atrocities to each other if they think they can get away with it. And with very little motivation.

The strong oppresses the weak because it can get away with it. The thief will steal because he thinks he can get away with it. It seems that consequence, is the the only thing that keeps mankind in check.

This is why it becomes important to establish a sense "ethics" in your life. And I don't mean what is socially right and wrong.

By ethics i mean a set of mores or rules that you live your life by. A common ground where social behavior can open the way to progress, learning, production, etc.

It has become too unpopular to tell someone they are doing something to offend you for fear of impinging on their freedoms or rights? So What? What about your rights?

Whenever you are letting someone do something in your environment that you consider is wrong, you are letting your ethics down if you don't say something.

I took a lot of courses on ethics during my teenage years and I always found that the moment they are allowed to go "out", things we are trying to do become much harder to accomplish.

I feel one needs to speak up and don't let things go unhandled.
